Why Entertain Candidates, already with a Job Offer

Today’s digital world is a challenging place to be in. Many, including me, will agree to this fact. Almost 100% of the global job market is influenced by technology. Employers these days have moved away from the routine copy book and clerical type of recruitment process, to a more technology driven, online recruitment process. However, all does not remain good as far as the hiring process goes.

A Job offer

  1. Everyone, in India or around the globe, would like to have a good job on hand and they struggle for that
  2. However, getting that good offer is as challenging as, spotting a black cat in sheer darkness, so to say!
  3. In today’s technology driven world, we accept a job offer, after getting a complete understanding about an organization’s standing, Organization culture and nature of work, place of work, compensation and growth prospects.
  4. What shocks me though is that many times, candidates who deserve a good offer and would be proud to have achieved that, also are still not certain of getting hold of it, despite being qualified and experienced.
  5. One of the main reasons, I foresee for this to happen is, that companies somewhere start entertaining candidates who already have an offer on hand
  6. This makes me feel completely demoralized and devastated.

Candidates with multiple offers

  1. I am a genuine job aspirant and have presented myself as a suitable candidate with lots of promise and ability
  2. I have attended the interview, but the decision on my selection, has been put on hold.
  3. The obvious reason, I can look forward to from the employer, is that they are going to take a look at some more candidates, which is fine.
  4. The employer hands over the job offer to a rock star candidate, only to shortly realize that they have other offers on hand and they are considering them too!
  5. Who is to be blamed for this un-ethical behaviour of the candidates?
  6. Somewhere the ecosystem has generated a cultural shift wherein candidates go ahead and accept such offers
  7. Time to panic for the companies, isn’t it!
  8. Obviously yes as there is a chain reaction to these sort of approaches from the candidates. Here’s how it effects.

How this affects?

  1. Candidates with offers already on hand, come with an intention to only collect the extra bit of information from the new company and then try to compare with the offer on hand, before coming to a decision.
  2. If companies continue to entertain such candidates, then not only will they lose out on those candidates, decisions about whom, they have put on hold, but at the same time, won’t find any favour with the rejected candidates again, should there be a need to approach them again.
  3. It will not be a big surprise that these candidates, who reject one companies offer, may not resort to the same action, in the next company.
  4. In such a case the other companies too stand to lose similarly, as the first organization, which the candidate had visited.
  5. This unethical behaviour, on the part of the candidate, has a drastic effect on the chances of other potentially genuine candidates, who have come in search of similar opportunities.
  6. By keeping this critical information in hiding, the employee wastes his and the employer’s time, without a complete knowledge of the employer.

Time to open your eyes and come out in support of true talent

  1. Though I don’t think it is entirely wrong on a candidate’s part to let the employer know that he has interviewed with other companies, I feel it is a very bad process, to use an existing job offer, to get another one.
  2. From the candidate’s part, why does he not decide, beforehand, where he should be applying and where not?
  3. The hiring company can find out during the very first interview itself whether the candidate has either applied elsewhere and has a job offer on hand or there could be instances , where he has already attended the interview in the current organization itself, for a different position and has been promised, better benefits
  4. For this, the hiring authorities of an organization can come out with an evaluation checklist, which also covers a point on offers already on hand or whether interviewed with multiple organizations or the current organization, for different positions.
  5. This way the companies can save their time and choose those who genuinely deserve a job, rather than an uncertain candidate, who has no guarantee of continuing.
  6. Why entertain candidates, already with an offer on hand, and leave the other applicants hanging for months, after having promised a feedback within days.
  7. An employee would help the hiring management immensely, if he is clear on his decisions, before accepting an offer and not resorting to any sort of double standards.
  8. Refusing an offerafter acceptance will damage the reputation of the company and everyone involved in the recruitment process.
  9. On the other hand, the candidate’s aspirations would get a big blow as there is a chance of him blacklisted by the organization and may not be able to try elsewhere again.
  10. Un-ethical candidates can do well by not allowing themselves to land in such a situation.
  11. From an employer’s point of view, it would be wise, not to entertain candidates with other offers on hand, by asking them to go ahead and pursue the opportunity on hand.
  12. Its high time companies raise above their level and start thinking about their decision to hire a candidate with multiple offers in hand, can affect other businesses to.
  13. It’s time transparency and consciousness prevails. Else, the companies will be poorer by the day, at the loss of every budding talent, in their neighbourhood.

Google Gives Thumbs – up on placing your local review on your own website

Google Gives Thumbs – up on placing your local review on your own website

Google’s John Muller Says “Make sure not to mark up those copied reviews with review structured data and schema. That would be against Google's guidelines”.

You’ve perhaps all seen websites that showcase the reviews their customers have left for them on Yelp, Google Maps and other websites. According to John Mueller, it is absolutely OK with Google’s guidelines to take some of those reviews and highlight them on your company website. The only thing he warns you not to do is use structured data on those reviews on your own website.
John said, “From a Google SEO point of view, I don’t see a trouble with that,” i.e., using these reviews on website. But he said you perhaps won’t rank better or worse because you did. Google will mainly look at the unique content on the page, as opposed to the copied reviews.
In addition, John Muller clarified that it is against their guidelines to mark up reviews from other sites on your own website. Google said the markup is reserved for reviews “straightly produced by your own website” and not copied from other sites like Yelp, and Google Maps— even if it is about your company.
So feel free to add to your website reviews you are proud of that are left by customers on Yelp, Google Maps and other websites.

Top 10 Amazing New features in ios 11 that you never experienced elsewhere

New features in ios 11

Apple iOS 11 is now available to the public. Apple offers a preview of the iOS 11 features at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2017. There was 10 beta released for developers before the final version was released today. The iPhone X device — which was announced on September 12th — ship with iOS 11.
New Features in iOS 11

In terms of design, there are not many large differences between iOS 10 and iOS 11. But there are many new features baked into iOS 11. Following is an overview of the primary iOS 11 features:

Augmented Reality Kit

A new augmented reality (AR) framework labeled ARKit enables iOS developers to build apps with super-fast AR experiences for devices that support iOS 11 and above. ARKit essentially combines digital objects and content with the environment of the users around them.

Automatic Setup

If you have a new iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with you, then you can rapidly sync up your personal settings, preferences and iCloud Keychain passwords simply by holding it near a different iOS device. This feature is called as Automatic Setup.

Document Scanning In Notes

The Notes app currently has a Document Scanner facility that can automatically detect when a photo of a document is taken. And then the Notes app robotically crops the edges and removes tilts and glares. Plus you can fill in the blanks or sign it with the Apple Pencil. Once you are done, then you can export it as a PDF or document file.

Do Not Disturb While Driving

The Do Not Disturb feature is being used for preventing notification noises while you are sleeping. Apple improved the Do Not Disturb feature by providing an option so that you do not get distracted while driving. When you start driving, your iPhone will be able to sense that you are in the journey so it can prevent you from being disturbed with phone calls, text messages, and notifications. People that try to contact you while Do Not Disturb While Driving is activated will be notified that you are not available right now.

Files App For iPad

iOS 11 is carrying a new app to the iPad called Files. The Files app allows users to search, browse and organize all of your cloud and locally stored files. This embrace files stored in cloud services such as Apple iCloud Drive, Box, and Dropbox. You can also bookmark your preferred files in a folder on the sidebar called “Favorites.” And you can tag files in certain colors. These features make the Files app on the iPad feel just like Finder on the Mac.

Indoor Maps / Lane Guidance

One of the greatest features coming to iOS 11 is Indoor Maps in the Maps app. With this feature, you can view the indoor maps of n-numbers of shopping centers and major airports. Now you can find which restaurants are beyond security at airports and the stores that are on each level of the mall. One more useful feature in the Maps app for iOS 11 is lane direction. Lane direction helps prevent you from missing a turn or an exit by showing you the lane that you should be in while driving. And the Maps app will show you the speed limit of the road.

Live Photo Editing Options

Apple first introduced Live Photos in September 2015 with iOS 9. And now there are superior Live Photos editing features in iOS 11. The new editing features allow you to trim the video loops. And you can select the photo or mute the Live Photos loop sound.

New Control Center

The Control Center has been entirely redesigned in iOS 11. And now you can customize it with different shortcuts and preferences. For instance, you can add the ability to dim the lights, control Voice memos and place a shortcut for Low Power Mode. And affecting 3D Touch to the Control Center presents additional controls.

Send and Receive Payments through Messages

In the App Store, there are a number of apps available for you to send and receive payments like PayPal, and Google Wallet,. Now you can add Apple Messages to the list of apps that you can use for sending and receiving payments because iOS 11 comes with that option.
This feature is motorized by Apple Pay, which allows you to send money instantly using the debit card, credit card or bank account number you have saved in your account. Once you get paid, the money is stored in Apple Pay Cash. For immediate usage in stores, apps, the web or to transfer to your bank account.
Siri Offers QuickType Improvements

As you type text messages, Siri will be capable to detect the context and make suggestions. For instance, Siri will make suggestions based on content you have viewed, the names of movies, your probable time of arrival if you are traveling and an option to send/receive payment via Apple Pay if you are talking about sending or receiving money.

Android 9 Pie comes with great features you should not overlook

10 Greatest Android 9 Pie Features

Google has released Android 9 Pie, the newest large update of the company’s mobile operating system. It’s got a fresh look, signal navigation, AI smarts, and, if you sign up for the beta, Digital Well being tools to help you get a better understanding of smartphone usage. There’s other logically helpful stuff in there, too, like adaptive battery, which learns your usage models and control the amount of juice that rarely opened apps can use up.

The company is trying to build smartphones adapt to user habits in the course of AI and machine learning. The UI has undergone a major service and the Android Pie now offers you great features to control your phone usage.

Routing Bluetooth Speaker

Android 9 let the user pair “up to five Bluetooth devices and switch between these devices effortlessly.” If a phone call comes in, Google says that Android P will express it to any Bluetooth speaker or paired audio accessory that’s competent of handling calls. Android supported two Bluetooth audio connections at once.
Talking of Bluetooth, we’ve all had that loud moment when your wireless headphones or your car’s audio system just blast sound cranked up to 11 when you first connect them to your phone. No longer has Android 9.0 remembered the last volume level for paired devices.

Rotate button

We most probably disable Android’s auto-screen-rotate to avoid your phone from switching between portrait and landscape orientation when we don’t want it to. But now Google has added nice touch with android 9 Pie, whenever an app is open that supports landscape and you turn your phone that way, you’ll find a new rotation lock icon pop up in the navigation bar to the far right. Tap it, and the app will rotate. This does not change the overall system setting. Keep in mind that you're really locking that app to landscape when you tap the icon. Just rotate your phone to portrait and tap it again.

Find and stop Apps Notifications that interrupt you frequently

Did a casual app hit you with an irritating or totally useless notification? Android 9 Pie have an amazing feature that makes it simple to see which apps have recently pinged you and stop it from happening again even if you didn’t address it at the moment
To enable this feature just go to SettingsàApp & Notifications then switch the notification button ON. The next screen will show you the apps that have recently displayed a notification.

New Accessibility Menu

Google has added a new Accessibility Menu, when enabled, gets its own icon in the bottom navigation bar. The Accessibility Menu offers shortcuts for performing general functions like triggering Google Assistant, opening the app switcher, pulling down the quick settings / notification shade, taking screenshots, and more.

Fingerprints and face Authentication on the lock screen

You could have observed the new screenshot option that shows up when you hold down the power button on your Pixel smart phone. But there’s also another security-focused button that you can optionally add there, it’s just turned off by default. It’s called Lockdown Mode.
While tapping, Lockdown will exit out to the lock screen, hide all of your present notifications, and require your password or pattern to unlock the device. Even if it’s really you, other authentication methods — facial recognition, fingerprints, and so on — won’t be enough to bypass the lock screen. It’s the PIN / pattern or no dice. You might use this in situations where you’re concerned about someone (the authorities, a thief, etc.) just forcing their way into your phone by pointing it at your face or forcing your finger onto the sensor.
To enable this feature go to SettingsàSecurity & Locationàlock screen preferences.tap “Show lockdown”

Auto-off Hot spot

Here’s a quite simple battery-saving gauge: if you’ve enabled Wi-Fi hot spot in Android 9 Pie, there’s a new setting that will automatically turn hot spot back off when Android notice that no devices remain connected. This measure is toggled on by default.

Magnifying glass when highlighting text

When your copy and pastes require accuracy, you’ll be glad to have the new zoomed-in magnifying glass that appears above the text you’re trying to capture.

Audio lag with wireless ear buds

Google has added support for “sound delay reporting,” with Android 9 Pie, which could go a long way toward abolishing the horrible audio lag that you sometimes get when watching videos with wireless earbuds
Headsets also support this feature can tell Android the accurate amount of delay there will be and the operating system will use that information to keep your audio and video in ideal sync. Note that sound delay reporting must be implemented by manufacturers to be of any real value. If your earbuds don’t have it, you may still deal with mouths moving out of sync with the audio you’re hearing.

Indoor navigation with Wi-Fi RTT

Android Pie now supports Wi-Fi Round-Trip-Time (RTT). It’s one of the greatest features that Android admirers are waiting for. Wi-Fi RTT feature enables indoor GPS style tracking by determining your location within a building and assist directions to help you find the way indoors.

Gesture Navigation

Instead of three buttons on the home screen, there has an only one home button that let you to swipe up to view recent apps along with a UI that advised apps you may use. Sliding also far left and right throughout the device would showcase recent apps and lets you quickly switch between them.

Now you can hire android developers to build great mobile apps with android 9 Pie from DeveloperOnRent with reasonable cost.
